Clery行为

In compliance with the Clery行为, 校园安全 maintains a daily crime log that records all criminal incidents 和 alleged criminal incidents that are reported to the 校园安全 Department within its patrol zone. Entries are organized by the date an incident was reported. 的 log shares the nature of the crime, the date 和 time the crime occurred, the general location of the crime, 和 the disposition of the complaint, 如果已知. 每日犯罪记录 is available to the public online.

年度火灾, Safety 和 Security report is a comprehensive report which is compiled, 发表, 和 distributed annually in compliance with the federal Clery行为. A printed copy is available upon request.

的 Clery行为 requires institutions to issue timely warnings to the campus community for Clery行动- - - - - -crimes that occur within the College’s Clery geography (on/near campus), 和:

• are reported to campus security authorities (校园安全 Department or other CSAs) or local police agencies; 和
• are considered by the institution to represent a serious or continuing threat to students 和员工.

的 timely warning requirement is intended to alert the campus community to potentially dangerous criminal activity on or near campus in order to enable people to protect themselves 和 prevent similar or repeat occurrences. To ensure the timeliness of the alert, a warning is issued as soon as pertinent information is available.

Crime reports are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the facts of the case 和 information known at the time of the initial report. Timely warnings are distributed via the College’s e-mail system, 短信, 和/or Occidental homepage, 在某些情况下, also the college Facebook 和 Twitter accounts.

的 College may periodically issue a “safety bulletin" via campuswide e-mail, which is an informational message to advise of situations that may affect or be of interest to students, 工作人员, 和员工.

的 College will immediately notify the campus community upon confirmation of an emergency or dangerous situation that involves an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees. An “immediate" threat includes an imminent or impending threat, such as an approaching fire, 地震, 气体泄漏, or an outbreak of serious illness. 的se situations may occur on campus or in the local neighborhood 和 pose an immediate threat to the health 和 safety of campus community members.

Occidental’s OxyAlert is an emergency notification service that is m和atory for students (who are automatically enrolled in the system). 教师 和 工作人员 are automatically signed up to receive OxyAlerts, but may opt out of receiving the notifications if they choose. OxyAlert can be used to send emergency messages via voic电子邮件, 电子邮件, 和 text message within minutes of the occurrence of an incident.

In the event that it is necessary to issue an emergency notification, the 校园安全 Department will develop the content 和 decide the delivery method of the emergency notification. Time permitting, additional input may be garnered from other relevant sources.

Occidental performs a campuswide test of the OxyAlert system twice a year.
