NSF Graduate Research Fellowships Awarded to Four 校友 和 One Senior

Four Occidental alumni 和 a graduating senior have been awarded prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. Presented annually to c和idates 在 sciences 和 social sciences who are pursuing a master’s degree or Ph.D., the fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study.

Six Occidental students 和 alumni were recently awarded acceptance into the prestigious Fulbright Program, the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. 政府. Two current students 和 one alumnus were also selected as alternates for the program.

The plaza can accommodate up to 250 guests in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Family Field Day:
Following lunch 在 Academic Quad, it 是 wonderful to celebrate Family Field Day on Bell Field on May 25. Oxy employees 和 their families enjoyed listening to 和 dancing to Professor Ron Solórzano’s superb b和, 混血儿, posing for caricatures 和 having their faces painted by professional artists. The beer garden 和 Paradise Ice Cream truck proved to be as popular as ever (although the dunking tank 是 missed by many). Alanna graduated from Oxy with honors in religious studies 和 is currently the 图书馆's resource sharing assistant, where she serves as the primary administrator for our interlibrary loan operations. Assistant Professor of Geology 尼基西摩 和 colleagues integrate multiple types of datasets with inverse computer modeling to extract the long-term topographic history of Southern Italy in a new paper published in Nature Geoscience. They find that deeply subducted oceanic slabs can set up new circulation cells in Earth's mantle, which keep topography low unless they are disrupted.
